The “Study progress & graduation” app is available in the student portal, which allows you to track your study progress and edit your graduation proposal. As soon as you have been credited with all the credits required for graduation in accordance with the regulations, you must apply for graduation via the “Study progress & graduation” app.
Master's thesis registration: At the beginning of the Master's thesis, please register it in StudentAdmin.
Master's thesis submission: The official submission of the Master's thesis takes place after confirmation by the supervisor by uploading it to StudentAdmin.
Master's examination: After completing your Master's thesis, please arrange a date for the Master's presentation and the Master's examination with your thesis supervisor. To announce your presentation, please submit a short abstract (approx. 200 words) to the responsible assistant. A second examiner must also be chosen for the Master's examination; this must be a lecturer at the Institute and must not have been involved in the Master's thesis.
Once you have passed your Master's thesis and Master's examination, enter the necessary details in the StudentAdmin Tool and submit the signed grade sheet (PDF, 538 KB) and a cover sheet for your thesis to the Student Coordination Office.
Application for graduation: Once you have passed the Master's examination and all other requirements for the Master's degree have been met in accordance with the study regulations, you must apply for your degree in the “Study progress & degree” app.
The following application deadlines apply to degree applications:
If you are unable to meet these deadlines, you must be enrolled for the following semester. Otherwise we will technically not be able to complete the degrees. These are university deadlines and the faculty is not in a position to approve exceptions.
Students who wish to leave UZH after graduation can de-register, provided they have completed all the coursework required for graduation. If any credits are still missing, enrollment must be maintained.
Further information can be found on the MNF website.
According to the study regulations, it is not permitted to apply for a Bachelor's and Master's degree in the same semester. Students must be enrolled in the Master's degree program for at least one semester in order to be awarded the Master's degree. If both degrees are applied for in the same semester, the respective students must enrol for an additional semester in the Master's degree program (including payment of the full semester fees!) so that the Master's degree can be processed.
