Teaching diploma for baccalaureate schools

The Institute of Educational Sciences at UZH offers the Teaching Diploma for Secondary Schools. In addition to specialist knowledge, the course provides pedagogical and didactic training that qualifies students to teach at a grammar school or other secondary school. The degree program can be taken up in parallel with studies or work after completing the subject-specific degree. The course comprises 60 credit points. A Master's degree in chemistry is a prerequisite for admission to the teaching diploma.

Scientific requirements for Chemistry as 1st teaching subject

Admission to Chemistry as the 1st teaching subject requires a Master's degree in Chemistry from UZH.

Admission with a Master's degree in Business Chemistry or Biochemistry is possible with minor additional academic requirements. The following modules are required:
Business Chemistry and Biochemistry - Chemical Track: One module (5 ECTS) from CHE 214, CHE 311, CHE 312, CHE 313.
Biochemistry - Biomolecular Track: CHE 213, CHE 202, CHE 204 and one module (5 ECTS) from CHE 214, CHE 311, CHE 312, CHE 313.

External Master's degrees and degrees from specialized Master's programs are examined individually.

Scientific requirements for Chemistry as 2nd teaching subject

Admission to Chemistry as the 2nd teaching subject requires chemistry modules amounting to 90 ECTS. These are made up as follows:
