Knowledge of the properties and structure of elements and compounds is an essential prerequisite for new findings and new developments in the fields of biology, medicine, physics and engineering.
The minor study program provides basic training in theory and practice as well as the ability to think and work systematically and scientifically. Experiments can be carried out and logged accurately and their results can be correctly recorded, analyzed and explained.
Chemistry can be taken as a minor study program worth 30 or 60 ECTS credits. In addition to the compulsory basic lectures and the associated practical courses, there is a range of compulsory elective modules to choose from. Students can choose freely from this list depending on their interests. Chemistry as a minor study program is open to all UZH students. Sufficient scientific knowledge in mathematics and physics is required.
