Transfer to the Master's programme

The Master's degree programme in Chemistry requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Zurich or another recognised university. Transfer with a BSc in Chemistry 180 is possible without conditions.

In order to transfer to the Master's programme with a BSc 150, the following modules must have been taken in the Bachelor's programme as part of the compulsory elective
and/or elective modules in the Bachelor's programme:

  • 1 additional module from CHE 303-305 (total 2 modules)
  • 3 modules from CHE 321-328

If not all of these modules were taken in the Bachelor's programme, they can also be completed in the Master's programme, whereby a maximum of 10 ECTS can be credited as elective modules in the Master's programme.

With a BSc 120, the following modules are required for the Master's programme (total 26 ECTS):

  • Biochemistry I BCH 201 ( 5 ECTS)
  • Synthesis practical course CHE 214 (5 ECTS)
  • 1 additional module (4 ECTS) from CHE 303-305 (total: 2 modules)
  • 3 modules (12 ECTS) from CHE 321-329
  • 1 module (5 ECTS) from CHE 311-313

Modules from this list that were not completed in the compulsory elective area of the 3rd year of the Bachelor's programme must be taken in the Master's programme. The corresponding ECTS can be credited in the elective area of the Master's programme. In addition, 6 ECTS credits, which are to be chosen from the Chemistry / Biochemistry programme in the Master's degree programme, and a maximum of one module from the compulsory elective area of the Master's degree programme can be replaced by these modules. The compulsory elective module may only be replaced in the last position.
