Research project
As a lab technician specialized in organic synthesis, I am the odd one out in a biochem lab.
I don’t have a project, but I bring in my expertise to support the team wherever I can. Be it peptides, linkers, ligands, or any other organic compounds one might want, I’ll synthesize them. Of course, I’m always happy to expand my horizon, so I started to dabble in biochemistry as well since working for the Sigel group.
Next to my work in the lab, I also help the professors by doing exhibition experiments for their lectures, and I like to think of myself as an integral part of our famous annual Christmas lecture.
Behind the Lab Coat: My Inspirations and Passions
Year I joined the Sigel Lab: October 2021
Favorite molecule: Thujon
Scientist hero: Comte de St. Germain Theophrastus Bombast von Hohenheim
Favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or place in Zurich: Eisladen Wiedikon
What inspired me to pursue science? I needed a job, they were hiring
If I could visit anywhere, I would go to: The world is big so my list is long and ever expanding
A book that inspired me: The Odyssey
Class or teacher that changed my life/inspired me: Thomas Wyermann (8th grade teacher (History, Geography, French)) Dr. Erwin Götschi (first boss)
Outside of the lab, I enjoy: Good food, good books, good movies, lazy Sundays on the couch, as well as arts, crafts, martial arts and draft ciders
