Alexandria (Ali) Deliz Liang completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry at New College of Florida (Sarasota, FL, US). She then obtained her PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA, US), working in the laboratory of Stephen J. Lippard. Her thesis work focused on the characterization of a non-heme diiron enzyme. After her PhD, she was an NSF postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Jason W. Chin (Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK) and a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Thomas R. Ward (University of Basel, Basel, CH). During these postdoctoral stays, she worked on enzyme engineering, unnatural amino acid incorporation, and artificial metalloenzymes. In June 2021, she joined the Department of Chemistry and the Digital Society Initiative at the University of Zurich as Assistant Professor for Digital Bioinorganic Chemistry.
